A breast lift procedure, known as mastopexy, is aimed at giving a firm youthful look to sagging breasts by raising or lifting the breast and removing the excess skin. A woman’s breast may lose youthful contours and firmness for following reasons:

• Extreme Weight fluctuations
• Heredity reasons

Breast lift procedure

Mastopexy is performed under general anesthesia. An incision is made around the areola and it is extended vertically down up to the crease of breasts. Horizontal incision is made at the crease of the breast as well. Once such incisions are made the cosmetic surgeons undertakes following steps to reshape the sagging breasts:

• The underlying breast tissues are lifted and given proper contour and firmness.
• The nipple and areola are raised higher to give them a youthfully erect appearance
• If required enlarged areolas are reduced in size by removing excess pigmented skin
• Excess breast skin is removed.

Breast lift surgery should be undergone after child bearing is completed. Incision lines fade away with time or blend with creases. During healing, incisions should not be put through any force or motion.
